Statement:

My art practice is a conversation with the timeless, the primal, and the elemental.

My art is concerned with the exploration of light, my materials, intuitive process,
and the exploration of formal rhythms found in my experiences of Nature.

In the making of my work, I express my great empathy for the living Earth.
This is pursued with the intention of communicating our universes’ great
interconnectedness and our own interconnection within it.  My themes tend
to group around the following: clouds, mountains, trees, rocks and water, the
sun and moon, and the changing weather.

I work primarily in the traditional mediums of paint, paper, ink, and leaded glass.
In addition, I utilize photography to document my study of both changing light and
natural form found in my extensive travels.  I continuously gather these
images into my ‘Atlas’, a bank of images for use as documents of experience,
source ideas and departure points for my material artmaking.

My art is inclined towards clarity, simplicity, and a truthful response to my
experience.  I seek to convey simple moments of that awesome freedom, mystery
and joy that I feel in those intimate moments in Nature and with my artmaking process itself.

Nature is nature and art is art. The deep appreciation of both wild Nature
and great Art reveal to me a timeless expression of universal interconnection and
rich discovery.  My work is the result of my attempts to express this simple truth.
